Born Out of Necessity and Thriving On Innovation

Alex Belew Catering began operating in 2008, but not necessarily on purpose. At the time, Alex had spent 13 years in the food industry and was fresh out of culinary school when he got a call from a friend asking if he could cater her wedding. The big day was 2 weeks away and her caterer had just cancelled. Alex had never catered an event before, but politely obliged because, well, how hard could it be?

Long story short, that first wedding was a hit and from that point on he was hooked.

Having no prior experience working for a caterer might sound like a disadvantage, but it turned out to be a valuable strength. Alex has worked in some of the most prestigious and well-known kitchens in Nashville, including Husk, J. Alexander’s, and Stoney River. Alex never stopped learning and soaking in the knowledge of his employers, and walked away with a balanced background that was equal parts originality and strategy.

We are more than just a caterer. We do not provide soulless buffets devoid of flavor or creativity. ​*That is the opposite of what we do*​. We spend hours each week reading, studying, and researching new trends, techniques, and cuisines to make sure that your event stands out from the rest.

Our philosophy does not revolve around what option is the cheapest or easiest.

We don't create menus based on what food can hold the longest. We seek to provide a one-of-a-kind, fresh, and innovative culinary soundtrack for your event.

We focus on what is fresh, how to make it amazing, and how to do it within the timeline we are given for the specific event. We adamantly focus on providing restaurant quality food; we would rather bring our grill and induction burners than leave your food in a hot box for a few hours.

Over the past 8 years we have provided exquisite and innovative menus to parties and events of all sizes, from private groups of 2 to large corporate events of 1,000.

We believe in bringing locally sourced ingredients to the table whenever possible. When the stars do not align and local ingredients are not available, we order from a list of reputable and highly-respected national suppliers.
